Community-oriented: Deputy Secretary for the Civil Service Rosanna Ure repaints an elderly person's home in Shau Kei Wan.

Government officers will help redecorate 40 elderly-people's flats from September to December as part of the Civil Service Volunteer Action.

Director of Architectural Services Yue Chi-hang and Deputy Secretary for the Civil Service Rosanna Ure today launched the Redecoration of Homes of the Elderly project.

Mrs Ure praised 240 civil service volunteers from 33 bureaux and departments for contributing to the community in their leisure time by participating in this year's project and extending their community-oriented service culture into their daily lives.

After presenting certificates to civil service volunteer teams recognising their participation in volunteer services, they led 40 volunteers to provide maintenance services to homes at Ming Wah Dai Ha in Shau Kei Wan.

Mrs Ure said: "As members of the public, civil servants are not only committed to serving the community, but are also willing to devote their spare time to help those in need."
