The Centre for Health Protection is investigating a Streptococcus suis infection involving a 53-year-old Tung Chung man.
He developed fever, headache and neck pain on August 25. He has been admitted to Princess Margaret Hospital and is stable.
He worked in a roast meat shop in Kwai Chung. He had a wound on his hand and touched raw pork before the onset of symptoms.
It is the fifth reported case this year. Eight were reported in 2006 and 13 in 2005.
