Man treated for myiasis
*
Centre for Health Protection

The Centre for Health Protection has confirmed the year's fourth human myiasis case involving an 82-year-old man living in a Sha Tin elderly home.

He came down with fever, vomiting and tiredness on July 23 and was admitted to Prince of Wales Hospital on July 25. Maggots were found in his bleeding left ear the next day. He is now in stable condition.

Hong Kong saw 15 human myiasis cases last year, six in 2005 and eight in 2004.
