The patient involved in a recent medical mishap died today at 11.55am, the Prince of Wales Hospital says.

A doctor is believed to have wrongly administered an intravenous chemotherapy drug intrathecally instead of into the vein of the 21-year-old woman.

The hospital expresses deep grief at the death and offers its deepest condolence and apology to the patient's family and will provide assistance.

The Hospital Authority has formed a three-member panel to investigate the incident. It will finish the investigation this month and forward recommendations to the authority.
