Seven male Kwai Chung Hospital patients, aged 18 to 43, have developed skin abscesses since June 6, testing positive for Streptococcus pyogenes.

They are being treated in isolation and are in stable condition. All other patients in the two wards concerned are under surveillance. No visits are allowed and thorough disinfection has been conducted.

The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority and the Centre for Health Protection for follow-up action.
