Better library services proposed

*

Secretary for Home Affairs Dr Patrick Ho has hailed the Committee on Libraries' report on enhancing public library services, which aims to bolster their role as cultural and educational institutions.

"Hong Kong libraries should promote the pursuit of knowledge and the love of reading, support life-long learning, and encourage wider community participation in library activities. The Government welcomes the report and accepts in principle all the recommendations made therein," he said.

The Home Affairs Bureau will study the recommendations and brief the Legislative Council Panel on the Home Affairs on June 8.
