Flow generators recalled
*
Department of Health

The Department of Health advises consumers to stop using a model of flow generator produced by ResMed, due to saftey fears. The devices treat temporary stoppage of breathing during sleep.

The manufacturer recalled the products following reports of possible short circuits in the power supply connector which may result in device failure or fire.

The recall involves 300,000 generators called the S8 Continuous Positive Airway Pressure Unit. About 360 were sold in Hong Kong. Click here for the affected products' serial numbers.

The department has alerted the Hospital Authority, private hospitals, nursing homes, and medical professional institutions of the recall.

Affected users using the devices with supplemental oxygen should contact ResMed Hong Kong for a replacement of the affected parts. A hotline (2366 0707) has been set up to handle enquiries during office hours. Click here for more information.
