Tainted medicine found at Tuen Mun clinic
*
Department of Health

Seven of the 17 bottles of medicine seized from a Tuen Mun doctor's clinic that were claimed or labelled as Terbutaline, have been found containing isopropyl alcohol.

The Department of Health today said the concentration of isopropyl alcohol ranged from 68% to 71%.

The 17 bottles include two original stock bottles, one medium-sized bottle and 14 small bottles. Isopropyl alcohol was found in the medium-sized bottle and six of the small ones. A 3.6-litre bottle of isopropyl alcohol with a concentration of 75% was also found in the clinic.

The department checked bottles of the medicine given to three patients, including the three-year-old girl who sought treatment at Tuen Mun Hospital on April 20. Two bottles did not contain isopropyl alcohol, but the one dispensed to the girl had isopropyl alcohol at a concentration of about 69%.

The department's hotline, 2125 1133, has so far received 19 calls. None of them reported having consulted the doctor concerned.
