UK poultry import ban lifted

Centre for Food Safety Department

The Centre for Food Safety will resume processing of applications for importing British poultry and poultry products, except from the county of Suffolk, with immediate effect.

In view of the control measures taken by the UK, and that there have been no other cases of avian influenza reported, the centre will resume application processing.

British applications were shelved after an H5N1 outbreak on a poultry farm in Suffolk in February. Restrictions for the county are not yet lifted as the centre is still monitoring the situation there.
