From now until next March, Hong Kong residents can apply to be volunteers for the Beijing Organising Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad. Only online submission of application forms will be accepted.

The committee has entrusted the Hong Kong Government to conduct the recruitment drive. The Home Affairs Bureau is responsible for planning, co-ordinating and conducting the recruitment exercise, and has set up a webpage with more information. It also provides a link to the committee's general policy, an application guide and forms.

A task force chaired by the Permanent Secretary for Home Affairs will help with the recruitment and form training exercises, and devise selection strategies and criteria.

Hong Kong residents born on or before June 30, 1990, irrespective of race or religion, can apply as a volunteer for the Beijing Olympic and Paralympic Games. The bureau will conduct initial screenings based on objective criteria and invite shortlisted applicants for a written assessment and interview, with the aim of nominating appropriate candidates for consideration by the committee. Final selection results will be announced in May, 2008.

For general enquiries on the recruitment exercise call the Beijing Olympic Games Hotline (86)10-12308. For specific enquiries relating to Hong Kong's recruitment exercise, call 2591 6690 or 2835 1331 or email volunteer@hab.gov.hk.
