The Centre for Food Safety has suspended processing applications for importing poultry and poultry products from the United Kingdom, following confirmation of an outbreak of the H5N1 avian influenza on a poultry farm there.

The centre will seek more information about the case from the relevant authorities.

Hong Kong imported about 11,400 tonnes of frozen poultry meat and offal from the UK from January to October last year.
