The Centre for Food Safety has suspended applications to import poultry and poultry products from Hungary after a confirmed avian influenza H5 outbreak in a poultry farm in the country.

The centre will seek further information about the case from the Hungarian authorities.

Hong Kong imported about 1,200 tonnes of frozen poultry meat/offal from the country last year.
