Wan Kin-sang, an accounting student at Hong Kong Polytechnic University, was recognised as the 30 millionth reader at Hong Kong Central Library today.

Director of Leisure & Cultural Services Thomas Chow presented Mr Wan with a certificate and souvenir, and thanked all readers for their continuous support of the public libraries.

He added the library would continue to develop as a cultural and information centre and upgrade its services.

The central library has more than 2.2 million items and an average daily patronage of more than 14,000.

Since its opening, the central library has organised many cultural activities to promote reading and learning, including talks, seminars and thematic exhibitions.
