Another dead bird tests positive for H5N1
*

A Crested Goshawk found dead in Shek Kip Mei on January 9 was confirmed to be H5N1 positive after a series of laboratory tests. The H5N1 virus causes avian influenza.

The department reminds people to avoid personal contact with wild birds and live poultry and clean their hands thoroughly after coming into contact with them.

Agriculture, Fisheries & Conservation Department staff collected the bird's carcass from a hill behind the Shek Kip Mei Health Centre after a report from a member of the public.
