The Centre for Food Safety has suspended processing applications for importing poultry and poultry products from Japan, following confirmation of an outbreak of avian flu H5 in a Miyazaki poultry farm.

Hong Kong imported 1,800 tonnes of frozen poultry meat and offal from Japan from January to September last year.

The centre will seek further information on the case.
