Gov't open minded on heritage preservation
*

The Government has an open mind on the future development of the Central Police Station and Victoria Prison, Secretary for Economic Development & Labour Stephen Ip says.

Speaking to the media today after officiating at Victoria Prison's open day, Mr Ip said these historic buildings will be re-developed under the principle of heritage preservation and the date of tender had not yet been decided.

"It is most important for us to listen to the views of the public, the District Council and all the concerned organisations. That is why we welcome activities like the one today," he said.

"It is a good opportunity for the public to come to experience for themselves the present condition of these historic buildings. We welcome their views on the future use of all these buildings."
