14 students come down with food poisoning

*
Centre for Health Protection

The Centre for Health Protection is investigating a suspected food poisoning outbreak involving 14 primary school children in Sheung Shui. Bacteria is the likely cause.

The 10 boys and four girls, aged seven to 12, came down with vomiting, diarrhoea, nausea, and abdominal pain after eating lunch provided by a caterer. All sought medical treatment at North District Hospital and none required hospitalisation.

To prevent food-borne diseases, the public, particularly food handlers, should take precautionary measures. Click here to read more food safety tips.
