Leptospirosis case confirmed
*
HPC logo (Eng version)

The Centre for Health Protection has confirmed the year's second leptospirosis case, involving a 35-year-old man who travelled to Macau before he developed symptoms.

He came down with fever, chills, headache, tiredness, muscle pain and vomiting on September 21. He was admitted to Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital five days later and discharged on September 30. His home contacts in Hong Kong have no symptoms. Investigations are underway.

The incidence of leptospirosis is low in Hong Kong. There was one imported case and five local cases in 2004 and seven last year.
