Asia Cultural Co-operation Forum
Cultural discussion: The Asia Cultural Co-operation Forum 2006 will be held in Hong Kong November 8 to 12.

Scholars, artists, creative entrepreneurs, cultural leaders and officials will join the Asia Cultural Co-operation Forum 2006 to share views and experience on the modernity and transformation of Asia's cultures.

Organised by the Home Affairs Bureau, the forum will run from November 8 to 12. Participants will discuss their experiences in the process of modernisation, particularly reflected in culture and the arts, and explore the idea of an Asian concept of modernity.

Countries including Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, South Korea, Japan and Vietnam will send cultural ministers or representatives to attend. A large delegation of senior cultural officials from the Ministry of Culture and 15 Mainland provinces and municipalities will also take part.

Twelve open forums will be organised to discuss six topics. They are:

* Cultural Ecologies: Communicating Contemporary Art in the 21st Century;

* Measuring Creativity, Happiness & Well Being;

* Creative Education Summit;

* Media Arts in the Contemporary Society;

* Experiencing Architecture; and,

* Asian Arts, Culture & Modernity.

The open forums will be held at the Academy for Performing Arts, unless specified otherwise. For further details visit the forum website or call 2559 9973.
