Legionnaires' case confirmed

Centre for Health Protection

The Centre for Health Protection has confirmed a Legionnaires' disease case involving a 72-year-old man, bringing the year's total cases to 14.

 

The Kwai Chung man came down with fever on September 1 and was admitted to Princess Margaret Hospital three days later. He had recovered and was discharged on September 25.

 

Of the 14 Legionnaires' disease cases reported this year, nine have been classified as local cases and three imported. The remaining two cases, including today's case, are yet to be classified.

 

Last year saw 11 Legionnaires' disease cases, and three were reported in 2004.
