Man dies from strep infection

A 50-year-old man infected with Streptococcus suis has died. He was admitted to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital on September 22 with fever, chills and abdominal pain, and died on September 25.

 

The Shau Kei Wan man had travelled to the Mainland during the incubation period. The centre's investigations are continuing.

 

This is the eighth reported case this year. There were 13 cases reported last year.
