Dr York Chow meets Jim Anderton

Kiwi call: Secretary for Health, Welfare & Food Dr York Chow meets New Zealand's Minister of Fisheries and Associate Minister of Health Jim Anderton in Wellington.

Secretary for Health, Welfare & Food Dr York Chow has exchanged views with New Zealand officials in Wellington.

 

He today met Minister for Senior Citizens, Disability Issues, Labour, Accident Compensation Corporation & Associate Minister of Social Development and Employment (Child, Youth & Family) Ruth Dyson to exchange views on social welfare.

 

He then called on Minister of Fisheries and Associate Minister of Health Jim Anderton to discuss the fisheries industry. Smoking, drugs, alcohol and suicide were also raised in the meetings.

 

Dr Chow visited the Ministry of Fisheries and the Food Safety Authority. He hosted a boardroom lunch for 20 guests from the medical, health and welfare sectors. He spoke on Hong Kong's healthcare reform and tactics against avian influenza.

 

He will depart for Auckland on September 16 for bilateral meetings with World Health Organisation members and attend the WHO Regional Committee for the Western Pacific 57th session before concluding his eight-day visit in New Zealand.
