Two women patients, aged 26 and 75, and seven staff of a Prince of Wales Hospital ward have come down with upper respiratory infection symptoms and fever. Five have tested positive for influenza A.
They are being treated in isolation and are in stable condition. The seven staff are on sick leave.
All other patients in the ward are under close surveillance. Infection control measures have been enhanced. No admission or visits to the ward are allowed and thorough disinfection has been conducted.
The cases have been reported to the Centre for Health Protection for follow up action.
