The Centre for Health Protection has confirmed a Streptococcus suis infection, involving a 72-year-old Kwai Tsing man, bringing the year's total cases to six.
The man, with no recent travel history, came down with fever and chills on September 4 and was admitted to Princess Margaret Hospital the next day. His condition is stable.
Thirteen cases were reported last year.
