The Centre for Health Protection is investigating the food poisoning of 10 people who ate at a Wong Tai Sin restaurant.
Nine men and a woman, aged 18 to 20, came down with diarrhoea, abdominal pain, vomiting and fever after eating at the premises on August 19.
Their symptoms were generally mild and all sought treatment at Tseung Kwan O Hospital. None required hospitalisation.
People, especially food handlers, should observe good personal and environmental hygiene to prevent food-borne diseases. More food safety tips are available here.
Siu Lam Hospital reports gastroenteritis outbreak
The centre has also been alerted to a spate of gastroenteritis cases at Siu Lam Hospital. Since August 18, four women patients, aged 33 to 44, and a staff member of a severe mental handicap ward have experienced diarrhea and vomiting.
The patients were transferred to Tuen Mun Hospital's isolation ward for treatment, and all are in stable condition. The employee is on sick leave.
Test results to determine the cause are pending.
Admissions and discharges to and from the ward concerned have been suspended and infection-control measures stepped up. All patients and staff there are under medical surveillance.
