The Centre for Health Protection has confirmed the year's third Streptococcus suis case, involving an 80-year-old Ngau Tau Kok man.

He came down with fever and abdominal pain on July 16 and was admitted to United Christian Hospital. He recovered and was discharged on July 20.

His family members have no symptoms and are under medical surveillance.
