Director of Health Dr Lam Ping-yan will lead a delegation to attend the 6th Tripartite Meeting of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Expert Group on the Prevention & Control of Infectious Diseases in Dongguan on June 28 and 29.
Experts will discuss the overall strategy and the emergency preparedness for any flu pandemic, control activities of other infectious diseases, and further collaboration of medical and public health experts in the three jurisdictions.
A co-operation agreement on emergency response of major incidents will also be signed to boost information exchange and collaborative efforts in the investigation and control of emerging public health events.
The Hong Kong delegation includes Centre for Health Protection Controller Dr Leung Pak-yin, Hospital Authority Director (Professional Services & Operations) Dr Cheung Wai-lun and Deputy Director (Professional Services) Dr Liu Shao-haei, Princess Margaret Hospital Consultant Physician (Infectious Diseases) Dr Lai Sik-to and Department of Medicine & Geriatrics Consultant Dr Yu Wai-cho, Centre for Health Protection Public Health Laboratory Services Branch Head Dr Wilina Lim, and Emergency Response & Information Branch Head Helen Tang.
