Health alert: The Department of Health is asking people not to buy or use Fat Rapid Loss Capsule.

Consumers are advised to avoid slimming product Fat Rapid Loss Capsule, which contains the drug sibutramine. The product is not registered under the Pharmacy & Poisons Ordinance.

According to the label on the pack, the product is also called Xin Yan Zi Pai Mei Zi Jiao Nang.

Those who have purchased it should immediately stop using it and see a doctor if they feel unwell. They are advised to dispose of it.

Products containing Western medicine are regarded as pharmaceuticals and must be registered before they can be sold. Pharmaceutical products containing sibutramine can only be sold with a doctor's prescription.
