The Centre for Health Protection has confirmed another 26 people in six groups felt unwell after having meals in a Kwai Fong restaurant, bringing the total number of people affected in the incident to 43.

The latest cases included 11 males and 15 females, aged 18 months to 58 years. They developed stomach pain, vomiting, diarrhoea and fever about two to 39 hours after having meals in the restaurant between April 5 and 9.

Nineteen sought treatment either from public hospitals' accident and emergency departments of public hospitals or from private doctors. None of them required hospitalisation.

Earlier, 17 people in three groups were affected in the food-poisoning outbreaks. Two of them were admitted in Union Hospital in stable condition.

Bacterial contamination could be the likely cause of the outbreak. Further investigation is in progress.
