HKU, hospital in partnership

*

Princess Margaret Hospital and HK University will form a long-term partnership in the development and research of cancer treatment, education and training by establishing a cancer education and research centre in the hospital.

This follows the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Hospital Authority Chief Executive Shane Solomon, Kowloon West Cluster Chief Executive Dr Lilly Chiu and HKU Dean of Medicine Professor Lam Siu-kam.

The cancer education and research centre will dedicate resources to professional training and improving Princess Margaret Hospital's patient care. The hospital will serve as a teaching hospital in clinical oncology for the university's medical undergraduates.

To achieve mutually beneficial goals and upgrade oncology service in the community, both parties will collaborate further with clinicians and researchers in evidence-based practice in diagnosing and managing cancers. Clinical protocols will be formulated and the overall standard of care will be heightened.
