Beef imports from US plant suspended

Food & Environmental Hygiene Department

The Food & Environmental Hygiene Department has suspended imports from the US' Swift Beef Company plant in Colorado.

The move follows the discovery of beef from that plant with bones during inspections last night by the department's Airport Food Inspection Office.

Only boneless beef from cattle less than 30 months of age can be imported from designated plants approved by the US.

The department will contact American authorities for more information.
