*

Three public health professionals from the Centre for Health Protection left for Guangzhou today to meet their Guangdong counterparts on issues relating to the prevention and control of avian influenza infections in people.

The visit followed the Ministry of Health's confirmation yesterday of a fatal human avian flu H5N1 case in Guangdong.

During the one-day visit, the delegation will meet with experts from Guangdong Province's Centre for Diseases Control & Prevention to exchange views and share information on the laboratory findings from the fatal case.

Principal Medical & Health Officer Dr SK Chuang, Head of Public Health Laboratory Services Branch Dr Wilina Lim and Senior Medical & Health Officer Dr Edwin Tsui are the delegation members.
