25 ill in Fanling food poisoning case
*
Centre for Health Protection

The Centre for Health Protection is investigating a suspected food poisoning involving 13 men and 12 women who ate food from a staff canteen in Fanling.

The affected, aged 20 to 62, developed abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea and fever after having lunch or dinner in the canteen on February 10.

Six of them sought treatment from Prince of Wales and North District Hospitals. Ten others consulted private doctors. None required hospitalisation.

The centre said bacterial or viral contamination could be the likely cause of the outbreak. Further investigations are underway.
