A workshop has been held to enhance food-safety ties with Shenzhen authorities.
Permanent Secretary & Health, Welfare & Food Carrie Yau said the discussion looked at Hong Kong's supply of animals, plants and food, and the inspection and quarantine work of the two jurisdictions.
She said both parties discussed forming the "Shenzhen-Hong Kong communication mechanism on emerging incidents of food and public health", to ensure timely exchange of food safety and public health information.
Both sides agreed to co-operate more closely in inspection and quarantine by devoting more resources for the Lunar New Year period.
