The Department of Health reminds travellers to Turkey to be vigilant and observe good personal hygiene following confirmation of another 11 human cases of avian flu in the country.
It brings the country's total human bird flu cases to 15, including two deaths.
Although the World Health Organisation is still verifying the additional cases, the situation there is a cause for concern, the department said.
The Centre for Health Protection is liaising with the WTO and the Turkish consulate to obtain more information on the situation.
The latest information and health advice on avian influenza for travellers can be obtained from the Travel Health Service website. For more information on avian influenza call 2833 0111 or visit the centre's website.
