Suspect flu vaccines contain flu antigens

Department of Health

Samples of the 1,000 or so suspected unregistered influenza vaccines, packaged by Shenzhen Aventis Pasteur, have been found to contain influenza A (H1 & H3) and influenza B virus antigens, the Department of Health says. The samples also passed a sterility test

The suspected unregistered flu vaccines were seized last Thursday when the department was investigating a case in which the vaccines, imported illegally from the Mainland, were sold to a number of private medical clinics here.

Samples of the seized vaccines were then sent to the department's Public Health Laboratory Services for analysis.
