New Blood Donor Centre
Token of appreciation: Hand-made key rings will be presented to blood donors at the new Causeway Bay Donor Centre on Saturday and Sunday.

The Hong Kong Red Cross Blood Transfusion Service's new donor centre in Causeway Bay, the largest on Hong Kong Island, will open Saturday.

The centre, located on the third floor, Radio City, 505 Hennessy Road, Causeway Bay, will open from noon to 7.30pm from Mondays to Saturdays and from 1pm to 8pm on Sundays.

To celebrate its opening, the Blood Transfusion Service elderly group volunteers have hand-made key rings for blood donors at the new centre on Saturday and Sunday.

People aged 16 to 65, weighing over 41kg, or around 90 pounds, and healthy, are eligible to be blood donors. Men aged 18 or above can give blood every three months whereas women can donate every four months.

People aged 16 and 17 can donate every six months but need their parents' consent.
