The Centre for Health Protection has confirmed a Dengue fever case involving a 32-year-old woman, bringing the year's total to 18, all imported.
The Singaporean came down with fever, muscle pain and a rash on September 11. She arrived in Hong Kong on September 15 and was admitted to St Teresa's Hospital the next day. She is stable. Her travel companion does not have symptoms.
People should stay alert to the threat of dengue fever and take measures against mosquito breeding. Travellers should wear long-sleeved tops and trousers, use insect repellent and mosquito screens or nets when rooms are not air-conditioned.
If feeling unwell after returning from the trip, they should consult a doctor as soon as possible and provide details of their travel to the doctor.
