Malachite green has been detected in an imported grass carp sample, bringing the number of tainted fish samples to 18, the Agriculture, Fisheries & Conservation Department says.
Of 16 freshwater fish samples, five were local and 11 imported. Big head, grass carp, edible goldfish, grey mullet, tilapia and mud carp were sampled. The Government has notified the Mainland of the results.
The accumulative number of freshwater fish samples taken for testing of malachite green since August 20 is 177, with 18 samples, all imported, found to be positive.
