The Centre for Health Protection has confirmed the year's first cholera case.
A 27-year-old woman developed diaorrhoea, nausea and vomiting on June 17 and was admitted to Princess Margaret Hospital on June 22. She is in stable condition. She lived in Indonesia and arrived in Hong Kong on June 15.
The centre said the best way to prevent cholera and food-borne diseases is to observe good personal, food and environmental hygiene at all times.
