Housing gates to be bolstered
*
Housing Department

More than $15 million will be spent to enhance metal gates at all public rental housing flats located in Harmony Blocks completed before 1993 and between 1999 and 2002.

The Housing Department said the move addresses tenant concerns on enhancing security. Metal strips will be riveted to narrow the gaps at the lower part of the gates or a semi-eclipse-shaped lock cover will be installed depending on the design.

Estate Management Advisory Committees will be consulted on the implementation programmes, which will be completed within a year.

Tenants can also replace the entrance metal gates at their own cost if complying with department guidelines.
