Poultry rest day set for Wednesday
*
Food & Environmental Hygiene Department

Poultry stall operators are reminded the next rest day falls on May 25. Market stall operators and fresh provision shops selling live poultry must suspend business on that day to conduct thorough cleaning and disinfection.

All retailers must observe rest day conditions and ensure all live poultry remaining in their stalls or shops are slaughtered before the rest day. They must not remove any live poultry from the premises to avoid slaughtering of unsold birds.

Food & Environmental Hygiene Department staff will inspect each poultry outlet on the day. Failure to comply with rest day conditions will lead to immediate cancellation of shop licences or termination of tenancies.
