York Chow meets Swedish health chiefs

York Chow in Stockholm

Swedish sojourn: Secretary for Health, Welfare & Food Dr York Chow chats with an elderly home resident in Stockholm.

*

Secretary for Health, Welfare & Food Dr York Chow has established networks with Sweden's Ministry of Health & Social Affairs, and gained experience in health and elderly care services.

Dr Chow began his two-day visit to Sweden on May 18 to gain experience in elderly care, and care of patients suffering old-age diseases.

In Stockholm he visited a community-based primary healthcare facility, a home for people with dementia and a home help service centre for the elderly, to see the services provided by the facilities and understand their role in the country's healthcare services.

Dr Chow also had a business lunch with some 40 guests from the Swedish Government and business communities.

Dr Chow will visit the Swedish Handicap Institute and meet with the Swedish Minister for Health & Elderly Care Ylva Johansson on May 19.
