Poultry rest day falls on May 10
*
Food & Environmental Hygiene Department

The Food & Environmental Hygiene Department reminds poultry stall operators and the public the next rest day falls on Tuesday.

Market poultry stall and fresh provision shop operators must slaughter all live poultry remaining on their premises before noon, and suspend business in the afternoon and evening to carry out thorough cleaning and disinfection.

They must not remove any live poultry from their premises to avoid slaughtering the unsold live poultry before the start of the rest day.

The department's staff will inspect each poultry outlet on Tuesday. Failure to comply with the rest day conditions will lead to immediate cancellation of fresh provision shop licences or termination of market stall tenancies.

Live poultry may still be on sale on Tuesday morning, but none will be sold from noon until Wednesday morning.
