More leisure facilities set for Tin Shui Wai
*
Patrick Ho visits Tin Shui Wai

Site visit: Secretary for Home Affairs Dr Patrick Ho meets Tin Shui Wai residents.

*

More leisure and cultural facilities will be constructed in Tin Shui Wai north to cater to the district's growing population, Secretary for Home Affairs Dr Patrick Ho says.

He visited the district today to review its facilities and the progress of related construction projects. He also took the opportunity to get a better understanding of locals' needs.

After touring the construction sites of two projects, Dr Ho noted most facilities were developed in the town centre and the southern part of Tin Shui Wai.

Community demands considered

When planning the future provision of such services, the Government will consider the demands of the population which now stands at 260,000.

"In view of the growing population and its migration to the northern part, more facilities, such as a soccer pitch near Tin Yat Estate, are being constructed. It is expected to be completed in 2006," Dr Ho said.

The Government will provide a mobile library service and will speed up progress of a park near Kingswood Villas and a project to build leisure grounds near Tin Yat Estate.

Two other prioritised projects comprising two complexes housing sports and cultural facilities will also be accelerated.

"Also, we will expedite others included in the 25 prioritised projects mentioned in the Chief Executive's Policy Address."
