Chicken import ceiling lifted for New Year

*

More Mainland live chickens will be imported for the three days before Lunar New Year's Eve to meet demand. After reaching consensus with Mainland authorities, the Health, Welfare & Food Bureau will temporarily lift the ceiling for live chicken imports for the three days.

The decision was made after discussions with the trade and assessing public demand and risk management factors.

The Government will closely monitor supplies to avoid any overstocking of live chickens at retail outlets. Adjustments will be made according to market demand.
