Another 17 food poisoning reports relating to a Mong Kok noodle shop have been received, bringing the total number of affected people to 60, and more are expected.
The 25 men and 35 women, aged 15 to 73, developed fever and gastrointestinal symptoms including diarrhoea, abdominal pain and vomiting after eating at the shop between November 20 and 28. Forty sought treatment from private doctors and hospitals. Two were admitted to a private hospital and have been discharged.
The shop was ordered to close yesterday for thorough cleansing and disinfection. The Centre for Health Protection believes the outbreak is related to bacterial food poisoning. Further investigations are underway to determine the number of people affected and the infection source.
