Another child from the Caritas Medical Centre's Developmental Disabilities Unit has come down with respiratory infection symptoms.
The Centre for Health Protection said today's case is in addition to the two children from the unit who came down with the illness on November 20. They are all being treated in an isolation ward and are in stable condition. Two still have fever. Specimens have been taken to find the cause of infection.
As at 10am today, 32 of the 34 children affected in the outbreak are confirmed to be infected by type-four parainfluenza. They are in stable condition and none have fever.
The healthcare worker on duty in the paediatrics ward last week, who developed fever and respiratory track infection symptoms on November 21, is now on sick leave.
Since November 15, paediatric patients requiring hospitalisation have been diverted to Princess Margaret Hospital. So far, four patients have been transferred to Princess Margaret Hospital for observation and treatment. Two of them have been discharged and the remaining two are stable.
