The Department of Health advises consumers to avoid slimming products Supreme Quick Slim and Vital-plus Quick Slim, which contain N-nitroso-fenfluramine. The chemical was reported to be associated with liver damage cases in Japan, Singapore and the UK.
The department investigated into the products following a local report of liver failure case involving a 33-year-old woman on September 21.

The distributor of the two products has been instructed to immediately recall the products from the market and to surrender them to the department.
People who have purchased the product are advised to stop using them, dispose of the product or surrender it to the department's Pharmaceutical Service at 3/F, Public Health Laboratory Centre, 382 Nam Cheong Street during office hours.
They are also advised to seek medical attention as soon as possible if they feel unwell after taking the products.
