There will be 10 special stamp issues next year, offering a range of new and innovative designs.
Hongkong Post said they will feature themes related to creativity and exploration, including Zhen He's Maritime Expeditions, the Four Great Inventions of Ancient China, the Hong Kong Disneyland Grand Opening, and Hong Kong Pop Singers.
A stamp set on fishing villages will be issued jointly with Portugal Post featuring Tai O Fishing Village.
Postmaster General Allan Chiang said the new issues will add value to Hong Kong stamp collections.
"The 10 new sets will be released to a carefully planned schedule at different times throughout the year," he said, adding three sets of special stamp sheetlets are tentatively planned for issue in January, April and September.
New order service to launch
Mr Chiang also announced the launch of the 2005 Local Standing Order Service, which he described as the easiest and most convenient way of collecting Hong Kong stamps.
"From September 6, customers can order the 2005 stamp issues and related products in advance. With the service, there is no need to queue at post offices on the issue dates," he said.
Customers submitting their orders for 2005 stamp products on or before October 4 can enjoy exclusive incentive schemes with attractive souvenirs. The incentive offers include three separate schemes, one of which is specially provided for young collectors.
Collectors can redeem prizes against bonus points awarded for stamp purchases. They will be offered a choice of different order plans, payment options and delivery modes.
Service guides and application forms will be available at all Post Offices and at Commercial Press bookstores from September 6.
Completed application forms can be returned to any Post Office, posted to the Post Philatelic Bureau, or submitted online. For enquiries call the bureau hotline 2785 5711.
